Barley and Vine in Apex, NC, will also be showcasing Coralie Goumarre – owner & winemaker of Chateauneuf-du-Pape estates, Domaine Galevan – she will be here to taste her fantastic wines with us!
Coralie Goumarre is the first woman to take the field for the family and that has been making wine her whole life. In fact, she represents the 9th generation at Domaine Galevan family estate that was established 234 years ago in 1780.
Robert Parker, the famous wine advocate, has called her “impressively talented” and was “blown away” by her spectacular 2010 vintage wines, as well as her 2011’s calling them the “sleepers of the vintage”. Before she and her parents Jean-Pierre and Pierrette were involved, Eloi and Jean-François the ancestors have left their mark in wine history. In turn, this ‘vine’ Rhone gives new impetus to Galévan between modernity, independence and happiness. It relies on a lineage of knowledge passed on as an incredible inheritance. On a huge 60 hectare area, there are 49 vineyards producing the best taste in wines today. All the great Rhone grape varieties are represented: Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and Cinsault for the reds; Rousanne and Marsanne for the whites. The average age of the vines is 55 years and they produce small quantities of the highest quality grapes. The land is worked with great respect and the fertilization is plot by plot (bcfw.co.uk).
