Copperplate Calligraphy

Held at the Wake County Public School System Lifelong Learning with Community Schools Adult Evening Education North Carolina,this 12-hour calligraphy class will cover the aspects of copperplate calligraphy. The class will give you a history of letter styles, how to care and adjust the pen holder, as well as exercises, instructions, and practice sheets. Cover each letter group and discuss letter formations and variations. Practice pen and nib control. Discuss paper, ink, and overall construction of words. This class taught by calligrapher Jessica Yee will give you an engaging introduction to the beautiful vintage art of calligraphy. Register early. This class fills up fast. Modern Calligraphy

Let your pen loose and join me as we explore ‘What is Modern Calligraphy?’ This beautiful loose lettering styles have graced the covers of wedding magazines to cute coffee shop signs. Come learn how to create your own style of beautiful handwriting. All supplies are included in the fee of the class. This class is also held at Wake County Public School System Lifelong Learning with Community Schools Adult Evening Education North Carolina.

Where to Gather Supplies

Supply list for all my calligraphy classes can be found at www.johnnealbooks.com. They are located in Greensboro, NC.  There is an advantage of having our supplier so close. Not only are we supporting a fellow local business, but most times supplies ship in one day. If you are taking Modern Calligraphy your supplies will be supplied the first day of class.

Calligraphy 102 – Uncial

Uncial is a majuscule (written entirely in capital letters) commonly used from the 4th to 8th centuries AD by Latin and Greek scribes.[2] Uncial letters were used to write Greek, Latin, and Gothic. The most famous text is the Book of Kells that is predominately written using this style of lettering. This style is lovely for religious texts, love poems or Irish sayings.  This class taught by calligrapher Jessica Yee and will give you an engaging introduction to the beautiful art of calligraphy.
